Kyan Quartet - ESTA Summer School

Friday 12th August
19:45 to 21:00

Established in 2019 at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Kyan Quartet brings together four exceptional young musicians from the US, Scotland and France.

Winners of the 2021 RAM Wolfe Wolfinsohn String Quartet Competition, the Kyan Quartet were praised for their ‘terrific, passionate and inspiring performance’. They are mentored by Alex Redington of the Doric String Quartet, as well as receiving coaching from members of the Carducci, Doric, London Haydn and Piatti Quartets. In 2022, the Kyan Quartet will hold a residency at Snape Maltings through the Britten-Pears Young Artists Programme and are Quartet in Residence at the European String Teaching Association annual conference 2022.

The Kyan Quartet shares a deep commitment to widening musical participation. They have participated in various Open Academy projects, and recently held masterclasses at Eton College and the John Lyon School. They are a Young Professional Quartet of Project String Quartet, with whom they held workshops for school children across Devon in 2021.

The quartet is privileged to play on beautiful instruments by Gragnani, Panormo, and Jacques Bauer.
